LandFlow - Product Description

LandFlow was designed from the outset to accommodate changing local government business requirements and the addition of new workflow and information systems when they were required.

LandFlow System Menu

The design objectives for LandFlow are summarised by the following criteria

· - The system must integrate seamlessly with existing and future work practices. Users of the system should not be forced to adopt a work practice because of system limitations or revert to a manual system work around.

· - The system must extend beyond passive information retrieval and incorporate workflow management elements such as progress tracking and monitoring.

· - The functionality of the system should, wherever possible, be defined by data held in the system and maintained by the user organisation.

· - Cross referencing and navigation between related business transactions and data sets should be easily achieved and extensible.

· - The system should permit business transactions to be held directly against properties held in the Property Register or be cross-referenced in each workflow application system.

· - Unique property referencing should be capable of accommodating the standard adopted by the authority whilst maintaining a rapid address based searching facility.

· -A high level of periodic and ad hoc reporting capabilities should be delivered with the system.

The main features of LandFlow are as follows:

· - Creation of up to 995 user-defined workflow application systems.

· - Creation of 998 activity forms within a workflow application. The number of pages within each form is only restricted by system resources.

· - Access to each system and each form within a system is determined by user defined group profiles.

· - User defined progress tracking values and descriptions.

· - User maintenance of fields, validation and form event procedures.

· - User defined conditional testing prior to output generation.

· - Amendment, replacement and addition to word processing document templates.

· - User maintained lists of standard phrases and comments.

The Print Manager

DAL was faced with a performance problem using WordPerfect to generate standard letters. Passing data to WordPerfect from LandFlow was taking approximately one second. WordPerfect was taking 10 seconds to assemble and display the document ready for printing. On machines with greater than 8MB of memory these figures were dramatically improved.

The LandFlow Print Manager was developed to overcome the immediate problem and to significantly enhance printing capabilities. Some of the resulting benefits are as follows:

· - The ability to dedicate any or many PCs on the network to printing standard correspondence or database reports.

· - Selection of current jobs to be printed by application, user name, letter type or date and time.

· - The user can choose whether to use the Print Manger, print locally or enter the word processor to edit the document prior to printing.

· - Return to full LandFlow facilities within a maximum of two seconds after a print request.

· - Retention of all correspondence data on the system indefinitely. This can be reprinted.

· - The Print Manager is capable of working with most Windows Word Processing software.

The Comment Manager

Whenever users need to insert a comment with more than 4,000 characters, they can choose to view or add the next 4,000 using a single mouse click or keystroke combination. From within the Comment Manager Dialog it is possible to selectively print the current comment, all comments, comments generated by a specified officer or comments between specified dates. The Comment Manager also provides the ability to add standard comments and invoke spell checking.
